Welcome to Florence High School. We are very excited about our ability to communicate with the world! We hope that it will provide a glimpse of the wonderful things that are going on within the halls and arenas of FHS. Please take time to explore our web page and see just how great it is to be a Falcon at Florence High School!

The city of Florence, Alabama is located in Northwest Alabama, with a population of approximately 36,000. Florence High School (FHS) serves as the city’s public high school with an enrollment of approximately 955 students in grades 10-12.

New Construction is everywhere at FHS and this is a very exciting time, but it also brings some temporary inconveniences especially related to traffic flow, parking and the main entrance into the building.  Please note the following changes that will be in place when students return from winter break on January 7th.

·        The main entrance and doors the front office will be blocked due to construction.  The new main entrance will be on the west end of the building.  All visitors should enter through the southern most doors on the west end (Commons area) of the school.

·       The attendance office will be located in the Commons in front of the auditorium.  The current ticket booth will be converted into a temporary attendance office.  All visitors must check in with her and obtain a visitors pass before moving to other parts of the building.

·        The parking lot in front of the building (off Bradshaw Drive) will be blocked except at the western most end.  This will be designated for visitor parking only and this parking will be very limited.    Students who have been parking in this area that do not have a parking decals, must make alternative arrangements.

·        Buses will pick up in the outside westbound lane of Bradshaw Drive.  There will be no parent pickup in that area.

·        Official student drop off and pick up should occur in front of the canopies in the student parking lot in front of the Commons area.

·        The parking lot beside Career Tech will continue to be closed until closer to spring.  We will open that area for more parking in the student parking lot as soon as possible.

·        Once the Freshman Center opens in the spring, we will make a few more alterations to the flow of traffic.  This would include ALL traffic leaving FHS to be directed to exit toward Helton Drive.

·        The area around the construction site will be secured with construction fencing.  No one should enter into that area.  Crossing into the secure area would be a safety issue.

·        All students crossing Bradshaw Drive in the afternoon should do so with one of the appointed adults stopping traffic.  This helps ensure a safe crossing for students.

·        It is imperative that everyone drive slowly through the school zone.  We have requested that the Florence Police Department patrol the area to ensure the safety of our students and adults.

2013-14 Bus Schedules Released

Florence High School was recently recognized as a Banner School by the CLAS (Council for Leaders in Alabama Schools) association.  119 Alabama schools applied for the award, but only twelve were chosen.  Dr. Womack, Superintendent, Florence City Schools, Mrs. Lynne Hice, Principal, Florence High School, and members of her faculty and staff traveled to Montgomery to attend the luncheon and receive the award.  Congratulations to Mrs. Hice and her outstanding faculty and staff for a job well done!

Each time you shop at Publix and have the cashier scan your Publix Partners Card at checkout, a percentage of your total grocery bill will automatically be credited to FHS's account.  Cards can be used by anyone–relatives, friends and neighbors and they do not expire!  They are available in the FHS main office.  Please support FHS!
