Extracurricular Excellence - Florence City Schools

Florence City Schools (FCS) has a strong reputation for providing excellence in academic achievement, athletics, and extracurricular activities. Students are provided a plethora of options and opportunities to reach their full potential.


Through an engaging and rigorous instructional program, FCS provides 20 AP courses, 59 career tech offerings, 15 competitive sports with 63 teams, and education from the early learning to career. Our high school graduation rate is 96%; the highest in northwest Alabama and one of the highest in the state.  Our award-winning fine arts program is nationally recognized with students provided an opportunity to earn a major on their diploma through the Florence Academy of Fine Arts (FAFA). FHS students from the Class of 2015 were awarded more than $14 million in scholarships to universities such as UNC-Chapel Hill, Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt, William & Mary, Auburn, UNA and the University of Alabama.
