Program Descriptions:
Cooperative Education (Co-op) is a structured component of the Career and Technical Education (CTE) curriculum that integrates classroom instruction with productive, progressive, supervised work-based experience related to a student’s career objective. Content is planned for students through a cooperative arrangement between the school and employer as a component of work-based learning.
This program assists students in making smart choices about a career by helping them identify their abilities and aptitudes. Students learn valuable skills that enable them to be successful while participating in work-site experience in the Florence area. The goal of this program is for the student to gain firsthand experience and information for making career choices. Students are permitted to work off-campus and receive wages. Student schedules will vary.
Qualifications: To be enrolled, a student must:

- Be at least 16 years old
- Be in grades 11 or 12
- Have a means of transportation to the job site
- Apply and interview with the Co-op Coordinator
- Maintain regular paperwork and meetings with the coordinator
Credit(s)/ Prerequisite(s): Students must acquire a minimum of 140 clock hours in a work-related setting for each credit earned.
The Launch Career Development Program is designed to serve as a catalyst to “Launch” prospective students into their chosen career path by proactively creating internship and apprenticeship experiences. Through this “on-the-job” training, students are able to obtain valuable knowledge related to their specific career interests, showcase their talents and abilities, make vital network connections, and learn how to not only be an employee but also gain understanding of how to elevate performance and become promotable.
In addition to the job training component, Launch students complete a developmental skill elevation class directed toward maximizing all employee attributes. Completion of this class earns students a dual enrollment credit with The University of North Alabama and also gives students their required "College & Career Readiness Indicator" for graduation. The Launch program will significantly enhance the participant's resume upon leaving high school, resulting in an increased marketability for students with colleges and potential employers. Student schedules will vary depending on other required/desired courses.
