I am Lorel Nix, and I am honored to serve as the Assistant Principal here at Florence Middle School. With 13 years of experience in education, my passion lies in creating a supportive environment where every student is learning in a safe school community.

I earned my Bachelors and Masters degrees from the University of North Alabama and hold certifications in teacher and instructional leadership. Before becoming the assistant principal, I worked as the 7th grade school counselor at FMS, where I focused on helping students transition from their elementary school years to their secondary school years.  I also helped support students' social and emotional learning through various programs and resources. 

In my role as Assistant Principal, I am dedicated to supporting our students, teachers, and families. I believe in the power of collaboration and communication to foster a positive and dynamic learning environment. My responsibilities include, but are not limited to, student attendance, student behaviors, teacher support and parent liaison.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my three sons, who keep me very busy with all of their extracurricular activities, which help me stay connected and involved with our wonderful community.
