• I was born and raised in Florence and have lived here my entire life besides a few years I spent in the mission field as a child in Colombia, South America.  I attended Wilson High school where I played Basketball and Softball.  I went to Northwest Shoals Community College, starting the spring after my senior year, finishing my Associates in one year then transferring to the University of North Alabama.  I completed my Bachelors of Arts in Physical Education in the Fall of 93 then went to work at an elementary school for the spring semester. In the Fall of 94, I was hired at Forest Hills Junior High to teach 7-8th grade physical education and coach and worked there until two years ago, racking up 28 years of teaching experience.  In the course of my tenure at Forest Hills, I taught through various restructurings ending my elementary physical education career with a K-4 schedule.  During this time, I earned my Masters in Physical Education from UNA, as well as my Educational Specialist Degree in Teacher Leadership and Instructional Leadership.  I then transferred to the University of Alabama and graduated in 2008 with my EDD in Instructional Leadership.  I am also National Board Certified in middle and Early childhood physical education.  I have worn many hats throughout the years which include, Teacher of the Year, Consultant for the National Center for Childhood play and Consultant for the fields of both Health and physical education for the Alabama State Department of Education. I also currently work as an adjunct professor for the University of North Alabama.  On a more personal level, I am married to my high school sweetheart. We have been together for 35 years and have 4 grown children (three girls and a boy) and 3 grandchildren and one more on the way.   I have a large loving family that I adore and am adjusting to my role as MeMe to two grandsons and one granddaughter. I enjoy working as an administrator for both the Freshman Center and the High School and am happy to support our Falcon’s as they follow their path to success.
