I am originally from Hamilton, Alabama. I am married and have two children.
I attended Northwest Shoals Community College where I received my Cosmetology, Esthetics, Nail Care and Cosmetology Instructors license. I continued my education at NWSCC and received my Associate of Science Degree. Next, I reveived both my Bachelors and Masters in Career and Technical Education from Athen's State University.
I also have a Barber Instructor's license I reveived from Carla Mcintire's, in Montgomery, Al.
I taught three years as an adjunct instructor at NWSCC before I took a full time position at Florence High School in 2003 where I have had the privilage of teaching for eightheen years.
I was Florence High School teacher of the year and Florence City School's district teacher of the year in 2016-2017.
I take continuing educational classes every summer and stay up to date on all the trends. I am now persuing my National Board Certification.
I am the lead SkillsUSA advisor, in the past I have had many district and state winners. This year at our State SkillsUSA Competition, I had four virtual groups. Two of the groups received gold and two groups reveived silver medals. My gold medalist advanced to the national competition where they both placed eight in the nation.
Teaching students and helping them find their passion in a cosmetology field is very rewarding.
