Originally from the small town of Hackleburg in Marion County, my family relocated to Florence after my husband retired from the Army in 2004. We have been blessed with a daughter and son.
I earned my Bachelor's degree in general science education and Master's degree in chemistry education from the University of North Alabama. I also completed my Education Specialist degree in 2017 from the University of North Alabama. I began my teaching career in Colorado as a high school biology and chemistry teacher while my husband was stationed at Fort Carson. Both before and after moving to Colorado, I worked as a professional tutor for Northwest Shoals Community College and Bevill State Community College. However, I began my Alabama teaching career in 2006 at Florence Middle School as an 8th grade physical science teacher.
I love teaching 8th grade students. Physics and chemistry are a passion of mine; as is the promotion of developing the students confidence in their own. I believe that middle students are at a great age to learn and still feel the fun and magic of these disciplines. I strive to instill a love of science in all my students in the classroom and as my role of a Science Olympiad coach.
