Mr. Andrew Mills

Andrew Mills is a life-long learner and musician dedicated to making passionate music and instilling that same passion in his students. Mr. Mills is a native of Tuscumbia and holds a B.S.Ed. in Music Education from the University of North Alabama and a Masters of Music Education from Gordon College. Mr. Mills has returned to the shoals after having taught in the greater Boston area from 2014-2019. While in Boston, Mr. Mills conducted multiple award-winning choral ensembles, directed and conducted numerous musical theatre productions, and performed with the Boston Cecilia Chorus. Additionally, Mr. Mills served as assistant conductor for the Gordon College Children’s Choir and professor for Gordon College’s Secondary Music Methods course. 

An active composer, Mr. Mills’ compositions have been performed both nationally and internationally and include works for string orchestra, wind band, and choir. His arrangement All Blessings Flow was published by the St. James Music Press in 2012. He continues to write music for ensembles of all types.

In addition to his work at Florence Middle School, Andrew serves as the choral director at Sheffield First United Methodist Church and the Music Director for the Summerstock at the Ritz in Sheffield, Alabama. Mr. Mills is a member of the Alabama Music Educators Association (NAfME), American Choral Directors Association, and Feierebend Association for Music Education. In addition to his teaching licensure, he holds certifications in Conversational Solfege Levels I and II. Mr. Mills is husband to Suzanne Reese-Mills, an adjunct professor at UNA and an active performer and director in the Shoals area. Mr. Mills and Suzanne have a son named Jesse and four-legged friend named Salem.
