Mr. Randy Bruce
Randy Bruce has been teaching at Florence High School for 26 years. Subjects Graphic Arts, TV Production, Songwriting and Sports Broadcasting. His Class has won Digital Cinema Production at Skills USA for the past 13 years and also won The Best Sports Broadcasting team on the NFHS Network for two years. Also won many awards from the Alabama Public Television. He worked in the industry 16 years before starting his teaching career. His music career he played in several bands growing up in the Muscle Shoals area as a young man. He got his start in the studio by playing drums for numerous sessions at Woodrich Recording Studios in Lexington, AL. He has written songs with several world-renowned writers such as Earl “Peanut” Montgomery (who wrote over 40 of George Jones’s songs), Chris Moore (who wrote quite a few of Leroy Parnell, songs: Tender Moment & Hearts Desire) and has had cuts with early Kenny Chesney, Chris Tompkins, Grammy Award winner Gary Nichols, Mitchell Oglesby and numerous others. Writing with Peanut gave him the opportunity to play a few times in a band which backed George Jones on numerous occasions. He has opened for acts like Johnny Rodriguez, John Anderson, Mel McDaniel, The Temptations, Tom T. Hall, Dr. Hook, Sawyer Brown, and John Berry, and have played with a number of the greats, such as George Jones, Percy Sledge, Tracy Lawrence, and many more.
Recent Works: He produced and recorded Enkh Erdene for the TV show The World’s Best on CBS with Producer Andrew Lane and also working with Nat Robertson which will be appearing on American Idol this season. Other artist Savannah Rea, Sweet Tea Trio, and many more.
