    You must be a junior or senior in high school or college student with a minimum GPA of 2.5 or better. U.S. citizens only please.

    Applicants must:
    1. be current juniors or seniors 
    2. be currently serving in an elected or appointed capacity in any one of the following student government, civic or educational organizations: 
    A)Class President, Vice President, Secretary or Treasurer; 
    B)Student Body President, Vice President, Secretary or Treasurer; 
    C)Student Council Representative; 
    D)Student representative elected or appointed (appointed by a panel, commission or board) to a district, regional or state-level civic and/or educational organization approved by the state selection administrator. If selected as an Alabama delegate, attendance at the Washington Week (March 4 - 11, 2023) is mandatory in order to receive the financial scholarship.

    AWARD AMOUNT: $5,000 plus a free, all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C.

    1. Sign up in the Guidance Office to sit for the 2020 US Senate Youth Program Exam no later than Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2019.  
    2. Bring your Chromebook to the cafeteria on Friday, Sept. 20, 2019, to take the exam. Mrs. Jones will send out a list of participants to the FHS faculty. 

No Sweat Scholarship


  • DUE DATE: The deadline for completed forms and essays is Friday, Sept. 23rd, before 3:00PM. ONLY 150 ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED. 

    DESCRIPTION: Judges will select the scholarship recipients based on their overall personal integrity and character, their personal achievements, contributions to their communities and schools, and academic accomplishments. Any junior or senior level student may apply. Winner may apply scholarship to the college of his/her choice! There is an Application Form that you must submit along with the following:
    1. Essay on the importance of ethics in business, government, and the community (300-400 words)
    2. List of extra-curricular activities
    3. Examples of community service and leadership
    4. Current official transcript (may be mailed or hand-delivered)

    AWARD AMOUNT: $1,000 to any school

    The High School Scholarship is open to all United States citizens or legal residents who are students in grades 9-12 and are 14 to 19 years old at the time of entry, attending public, private, religious, home school program and charter schools.

    1. To enter, students and/or parent/guardians are encouraged to fill out the online Contest Sign-up form, indicating their intent to enter the contest, including the line on the form giving parental consent.
    2. Submissions due no later than 11:59 p.m. September 17, 2022 to WeTheFuture2019@yahoo.comwith subject line: HIGH SCHOOL ENTRY. See Official Rules Section III for complete submission instructions and guidelines.

    Select one of the following to complete:
    A) Essay: The completed Contest Sign-up form with signed parental consent and essay may be mailed as a PDF to WeTheFuture2022@yahoo.com or mailed in hard copy form to the P.O. Box below. Student's name, age and grade must appear on each page of the essay.

    B) Song: Submissions should be uploaded to YouTube (640 x 360 minimum, HD preferred) or Vimeo (download enabled), must include a video recording of the performance or still photo with audio in background. First line of song description in online submission must read: Submitted to Constituting America's We The Future 2022 Contest www.constitutingamerica.org. Must email Entry/Permission form; YouTube or Vimeo link; lyrics and music.

    C) STEM: Using your creativity, develop some type of applied technology that can be used to promote the U.S. Constitution. Examples: a random survey of students to test constitutional knowledge, design a computer game tied to the Constitution or liberties it represents, construct an app or web site showcasing a particular aspect of the Constitution's value in contemporary America, to your peers. The choice is yours.

    D) PSA: Submissions should be uploaded to YouTube (640 x 360 minimum, HD preferred) or Vimeo (download enabled). The first line of the video description in the online submission must read: Submitted to Constituting America's We The Future 2022 Contest www.constitutingamerica.org the following must be emailed to WeTheFuture2019@yahoo.com: Entry permission form; YouTube or Vimeo link; script. Pls. include your name, age, and grade on all pages of the entry package.

National Portfolio Day Association

  • National Portfolio Day is free for students to attend from anywhere in the world to have their portfolio reviewed by counselors, admissions team members, and faculty from art schools before applying to college.

    The closest event is Atlanta, GA on Sunday, Sept. 18, 2022 from 12 - 4 pm at the Georgia World Congress Center.
