Welcome to Weeden Elementary!

My name is Jon Ray Russell and this is my first year as the School Counselor at Weeden Elementary School. I’m originally from Arab, AL where I graduated from Arab High School. From there, I attended the University of North Alabama on a Cross Country scholarship.

I received my Bachelors degree in Secondary Education from the University of North Alabama, and I’m currently entering my ninth year in education. Prior to Weeden, I spent one year at Florence Middle School, four years at Helena High School, and three years at Colbert Heights High School. I’ve coached a variety of sports, which include Football, Basketball, Cross Country, and Track. Personal and professional experiences lead me to pursue counseling. In 2019 I graduated from the University of West Alabama with my Masters degree in School Counseling. My desire is to help children become socially, emotionally, and academically successful. 

My wife Brittany is a registered nurse. Together we have three children: Emory, Chandler, and Hudson.
