Hello, my name is Mark (Andrew) Granlund. I am a special education teacher at Florence Freshman Center. I am starting my fourteenth year in education. I received my bachelors degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in the fall of 2007 in music education. In 2008, I began my teaching career teaching music (choir) in the Shelby County School system at Chelsea Middle School and Chelsea High School. In 2016, my family and I moved to Texas to pursue a career for my spouse. I began work in special education at Lubbock Cooper High School as a teaching assistant, and the following summer certified in special education. In 2020, my family and I moved to Lake Jackson, Texas. I worked in self-contained behavior in special education at Angleton Junior High School in Angleton, Texas. In 2021, my family and I landed in Florence and I begin my work at the Freshman Center.
I am married to my wife Maggie and we have two children, Ruby, who is in fourth grade and Pace, who is in second grade.
I am excited to get to become more acquainted with the students at the Freshman Center and the communiity of Florence. Go Falcons!
