My name is Cynthia Fisackerly. I attended Forest Hills as a child and graduated from Florence High School in 2008. I went on to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with an emphasis in Graphic Design in 2012 from Mississippi State University. I worked in the graphic design field for a few years before deciding to get my Master's degree in Secondary Art Education from Mississippi State University. I did my internship at Forest Hills and went right into teaching art here in 2014. I later taught elementary art in Muscle Shoals and had the opportunity to stay home with my babies for a few years before returning to the Forest Hills Art room.
I have always loved art from the time I was a child at Forest Hills and I so enjoy teaching it to your children. Art is so important as it helps to build fine motor skills, creative problem-solving skills, and imagination. I love art and all the ways it brings new experiences to students. Our students begin at the youngest age learning to draw simple shapes and how to use scissors. They grow to learn how to use a paintbrush and work in watercolors and even discuss art history. They go on to use materials such as chalk, pastels, clay, and even dabble in screen-printing. Art class not only gives students new experiences, but it also opens up the art world to those who will one day work in the arts or even simply enjoy it as a life-long hobby.
See you in the art room!
