FLORENCE, Ala. – At the Tuesday, May 13 meeting, the Florence City Board of Education approved the hiring of Dr. Chris Westbrook as the new principal of Florence High School. Dr. Westbrook has served as interim principal for the past seven months, earning the respect and admiration of students, faculty, and the Florence community.

“What began as apprehensively agreeing to serve as Interim Principal, became a renewed commitment and passion for serving others,” Dr. Westbrook said. “FHS is filled with extraordinary students, exceptional educators, and exemplary support personnel. The opportunity to work alongside them the past seven months has been incredibly rewarding. I’m humbled and honored to have this opportunity to serve FHS and our community as Principal of Florence High School, and I’m thankful for the support I have received from Dr. Shaw, the FCS Board of Education, and the Florence community.”

Dr. Westbrook brings a deep commitment to educational excellence and a passion for student success. His leadership during his interim term has been marked by collaborative spirit, high standards, and a strong connection to the school community.
