FLORENCE, Ala. – The Florence City Schools elementary summer program is off to a strong and heartwarming start. Students arrived with big smiles on the first day, excited to see their teachers and classmates. The energy on campus was full of joy and enthusiasm as staff welcomed children into a summer of learning, growth, and fun.

Behind the scenes, dedicated teachers and teaching assistants worked tirelessly to ensure a smooth kickoff. Their preparation paid off, creating an exciting first day for students and families.

Local reading specialist Rachel Graves shared, “It was day one, and things are going great. It’s always fun to see their smiling faces and get hugs. Florence has the most amazing kids, and getting to spend the summer with them is a joy and a blessing.”

A typical day in the program starts with breakfast in the cafeteria, followed by engaging math and reading instruction through songs, stories, counting activities, and small-group learning. Students also enjoy time on the playground and a midday meal before wrapping up a full, fast-paced day.

Looking ahead, the excitement continues to build. Teachers deliver targeted interventions and creative lessons designed to help each child grow academically and socially. As the summer unfolds, the program promises not just progress, but powerful memories and connections for everyone involved.
