FCS retirees honored at annual Closing Institute assembly
Superintendent Dr. Jimmy Shaw honores 2025 retirees

FLORENCE, Ala. — On Friday, Florence City Schools Superintendent Dr. Jimmy Shaw ended the 2024-25 school year with the annual Closing Institute assembly at Florence Middle School.

Closing Institute is held on the morning of Florence High School's graduation day to officially close the school year for all FCS faculty and staff. At the assembly, the superintendent also recognizes the district's retirees. This year, The Falcon Jazz Band, under the direction of Brian Jay, entertained the crowd with selections.

2024-25's retirees have a combined total of more than 650 years of service. Congratulations to the following:
