FLORENCE, Ala. — Character.org has recognized the "Falcon Way Wednesday" program at Forest Hills Elementary School as a 2025 Promising Practice.

The national nonprofit, known for promoting character development in schools, certified 230 Promising Practices nationwide this year. Forest Hills' weekly initiative stood out for its demonstrated impact and alignment with Character.org's 11 Principles Framework for Schools.

"We are extremely proud to recognize the schools and organizations that have developed and implemented a Promising Practice," Character.org President Dr. Arthur Schwartz said. "Each of these programs and practices have demonstrated significant impact and strongly align with the principles that help schools and organizations cultivate a culture of character."

Forest Hills Principal Laurie Fowler was notified of the recognition earlier this week. According to Character.org, "Falcon Way Wednesday" exemplifies values that help foster a positive school climate that encourages students to make good choices for intrinsic reasons and helps create a sense of belonging within the school community.

The initiative is part of Forest Hills' broader commitment to student development beyond academics, helping children grow as kind, respectful, and responsible citizens.
