FLORENCE, Ala. — The first six students from Florence High School completed training and signed with Lockheed Martin on Friday.

Through a new partnership between Florence City Schools’ Career, Technical, and Specialized Education Department and Lockheed Martin, Brice Howell, Marquis Andrews, Ignacio Rojas, Kaela Cartwright, William Christian, and Landon Newbern completed coursework designed to prepare them for careers immediately after high school.

In addition to launching their careers, the students collectively received nearly $80,000 in scholarships to continue their education.

“This is what it’s all about,” FCS CTSE Director Dr. Corey Behel said. “We are in the student business, and we’re going to maximize their ability to step foot into the workforce as soon as they graduate high school.”
