Mr. Matt Ball (FHS)

I started teaching Agricultural Education for Florence City Schools in 2005. I hold a Bachelors degree in Agriscience Education from Alabama A&M University, a Masters degree in Agriscience Education from Auburn University and an Educational Specialist degree in Agriscience Education from Auburn University. What I enjoy most about teaching agricultural education, is having the ability to pass on the knowledge and skills that I have gained throughout my experiences in agriculture to the students I teach.

Ms. Shelby Atwood (FMS)

My name is Shelby Atwood. I have been teaching agricultural education at Florence Middle School since 2019. I graduated from Florence High School in 2016 after six years of agricultural education courses with the high school instructor, Mr. Ball. Three years later, I received a degree in agricultural education from Auburn University and began teaching. Since then, I have earned my Master's in Agricultural Education and Communications from the University of Florida and my Ed.S. in Agricultural Education from Murray State University. My favorite part about teaching agricultural education is when I have the opportunity to see my students use the skills they learned outside of the classroom.

Career and Technical Student Organization

    • Every student that is enrolled in an agricultural education course is an FFA member. FFA is an intracurricular student organization for those interested in agriculture and leadership.

FFA is a dynamic youth organization that changes lives and prepares members for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education.

FFA develops members’ potential and helps them discover their talent through hands-on experiences, which give members the tools to achieve real-world success.

Members are future chemists, veterinarians, government officials, entrepreneurs, bankers, international business leaders, teachers, and premier professionals in many career fields.

FFA is an intracurricular student organization for those interested in agriculture and leadership. It is one of the three components of agricultural education.

The official name of the organization is the National FFA Organization. The letters “FFA” stand for Future Farmers of America. These letters are a part of our history and our heritage that will never change.
