• Welcome to Florence Middle School

FMS is a place where your student will soar. As the only campus for 7th and 8th graders in the city, FMS is a wonderfully unique combination of students coming from various elementary schools, as well as, several private schools in our area. Our focus is making the middle school years positive and enriching. We provide a nurturing environment for students as they navigate through the transitional years of adolescence.

Our core curriculum is demanding so that our students are prepared for high school and beyond. All students have district provided chromebooks loaded with digital content. Canvas is the learning management system (LMS) used to organize and deliver content created by our excellent teachers.

FMS seeks to be responsive to students and family needs, offering an individualized and personalized educational experience, from intervention to high school credits to virtual classes.

FMS encore classes and after school activities give the students an opportunity to enhance their talents and explore their interests while building lifelong friendships.

FMS has an award-winning fine arts program, including band, chorus, theatre, and dance. Our students have been recognized not only the stage but also for their work in the community.

FMS also offers an array of competitive sports including football, baseball, softball, basketball, volleyball, tennis, wrestling, cross-country, track, cheerleading, and swimming.

Many of the faculty members at FMS put in many extra hours preparing our Math Team students, as well as Science Olympiad, Student Council, National Junior Honor Society, Scholar’s Bowl, and First Priority for competitions and local events. Many of the clubs & organizations participate in various service projects across our community. If ever there are questions that arise, please feel free to call us. Our friendly & helpful office staff will help you in any way they can.
