Art- Kristy Lanzenstiel
From hands-on art projects to units of study in art appreciation, this course helps students to become more aware of the beauty in their world and to understand the many ways in which artists have enriched our lives.
Music- Patrick McCormick
Building on the musical knowledge begins during the elementary years, students have the opportunity to acquire more advanced musical skills and to exhibit those skills through various types of performances throughout the Florence City School system.
Coding/Robotics- Tyler Morris & Lorelle Branham
This class offers the basics of beginning coding and robotics. Students in 5th and 6th grade get to experience Coding & Robotics as one of their 9 weeks encore classes
Dance- Elisabeth Bendall, Chyna Boddie, & Laura
This course offers the basics of ballet. Students will build off of the five positions, master plié variations and tendus, among other level-appropriate skills. Dancers will work to master level I curriculum to move on to level II with the instructor’s recommendation.
Theater- Cherise Albright
The purpose of this class is to increase students' understanding, appreciation, and critical perceptions of the theatrical event. Readings and lectures will focus on the elements of theatrical practice; artists and innovators of theatre throughout history; and on the theatre's development as an art form.
Band- Russell Belote
This course is offered to 6th grade students. Learning an instrument at an early age is only the beginning of what band is really about. You will form a new family of friends and memories that will last throughout your school days and beyond graduation!
Strings- Kimberly Maternik-Piret
The string orchestra program for Florence City Schools is a complete program from beginning through advanced-level classes. Students have the opportunity to learn to play a stringed instrument (violin, viola, 'cello, or double bass) beginning in the 6th grade at Hibbett Intermediate School.
