
Midweek Recap
(03/22/23) The Varsity Boys finished 4th out of 17 teams on Monday, March 20 at Valley Hill Country Club in Huntsville. Tate Oakley and Clark Hayes turned in scores of 79 and 79 to anchor the team on a very cold day. The Falcons have not finished a tournament this year out of the top 6 teams.
The JV Boys team also finished tied for 4th at a JV tournament in Cullman at Terri Pines Golf Course with Aiden Thigpen leading the way for the Team with a team low 90.
Addison Vaughn was the low scorer for the Girls team at the Grissom Classic with a score of 94.
The Boys and Girls will be in competition again on Thursday afternoon in matches against the Mars Hill Girls and the Brooks Boys at RTJ the Shoals. The girls will be on the Fighting Joe course and the Boys will be on the School Master course.
Falcon Boys Finish Second, Vaughn and Hill Make All-Tournament Teams
(03/14/23) The Falcon Boy's golf team finished 2nd in the Burns Invitational Golf Tournament held at Cypress Lakes Golf and Country Club. The winning team was the defending 4A state champions, The Haleyville Lions. The Falcons shot a school-low score of 313 on the opening day, but the cold weather got the best of everyone on Tuesday morning and the Falcons turned in a 336 to complete day 2. Jackson Hill turned in back-to-back scores of 73 on consecutive days, earning him the honor of being named to the All-Tournament team. Addison Vaughn was named to the Girls All-Tournament team by finishing in the third spot overall for the tournament.
Falcon Boys Finish in Top 6 At Bob Jones Tournament
(03/10/23) After a long, wet and cold day of golf, the Florence Boys Golf team finished 6th out of 21 teams at Canebrake Country Club in Athens,Alabama. The Boys team of Jackson Hill, Jonah Stovall, Jake Linville, Tate Oakley, and Clark Hayes, posted a combined score of 320. (A team score in golf is a combined score of the 4 best scores out of 5 golfers on a team. They almost equaled last year's lowest score of 316.)
At this point last season, the Falcons won the Turtle Point Tournament with a score of 340. Currently, they are 20 strokes better at the same point last season.
Jackson led the team with a score of 69 (-3). Jonah Stovall finished with a score of 76 (+4) followed by Jake Linville and Tate Oakley. Jackson was named as part of the All-Tournament team for his round of 3 under par.
Next Up: The Boys and Girls teams will be in competition on Monday and Tuesday next week at Cypress Lakes Country Club in Muscle Shoals at the Chris Burns Invitational. The girls that will be competing are Addison Vaughn, Ella Taylor, Akshaya Naidu, and Olivia Herring.
The Boy's team is yet to be determined.
