Putting Fore the Falcons raises nearly $20K for Florence City Schools classrooms

FLORENCE, Ala. — Putting Fore the Falcons returned to Forest Hills Elementary School in April with a goal of raising funds for the Florence Education Foundation (FEF) to distribute to Florence City Schools (FCS) teachers. In its second year, the event raised $18,852, a more than $4,600 increase from the inaugural year. FEF Executive Director Miranda Haddock said the event is one of several ways the community can contribute to the fundraising efforts.

“This event really helps the foundation to be able to provide more funding to the classrooms,” Haddock said. “There are other ways for people to donate. We are also going to have a few new campaigns and options for individuals to be able to give back to the Education Foundation.

Haddock said this year, Putting Fore the Falcons added additional putt-putt holes, other activities like Plinko, which FHS welding students constructed, and a dunking booth.

“It was a huge hit,” Haddock said. “We added a dunking booth where ticketholders could dunk various teachers, coaches, principals, and even some football players.”

Haddock added that attendees enjoyed a prize wheel, extra carnival games, balloon animals, inflatables, and a hole-in-one challenge. For the first time, the elementary school show choirs also performed. Attendees left the event feeling full, with six area food trucks on site.

The funds raised from Putting Fore the Falcons will go towards grants that FCS teachers will apply for at the beginning of the Fall 2024 semester. To learn other ways to donate to the Florence Education Foundation, click here.
