FCS assistant principals complete Bailey Education Capstone Leadership Academy
FLORENCE, Ala. — Thursday, May 30, ended a yearlong collaboration between four north Alabama school districts and the Bailey Education Group.
The Bailey Education Capstone Leadership Academy's inaugural cohort consisted of participants from Lawrence County Schools, Limestone County Schools, Sheffield City Schools, and all assistant principals in Florence City Schools.
The Leadership Academy's last meeting, hosted at the FCS Central Office, saw participants present their capstone leadership projects, receive evaluations, and receive completion awards. Standards covered during the yearlong academy included ethics and professional norms, curriculum, instruction and assessment, and meaningful engagement of families and communities.
FCS Director of Instruction and Professional Learning Dr. Jacquelyn Flowers praised the program, stating, "The Bailey Education Capstone Leadership Academy was a true professional growth experience for our assistant principals in Florence City Schools. They each expressed to me how much they grew professionally because of their learning, individually and across districts, during this academy."
Flowers added that Superintendent Dr. Jimmy Shaw has been aiming to grow a principal pipeline within FCS. "I believe this academy helped all our assistant principals be more prepared for opportunities to become principals in the future," Flowers said.
Kim Hall is Bailey Education Group's Director of Leadership Content and Development. She stated, "It has been a pleasure to work with leaders from Florence City, Sheffield City, Limestone County, and Lawrence County."
She spoke on the encouragement of working with four superintendents and school districts who support their leaders' professional growth and development.
"This cohort is an energetic group of educational leaders who participated in an intensive year-long study designed to hone their leadership skills while supporting their growth as instructional leaders in their school buildings," Hall added. "I am confident that these school leaders will have an impact in their communities, and I look forward to our continued partnership to 'Improve the Lives of All Children through the development of school leaders.'"
