Florence Home Depot donates bucket drums for FHS Ableworks music class
FLORENCE, Ala. — In a heartwarming collaboration, the Florence Home Depot donated five-gallon buckets for the Ableworks special education students to use as drums in Kevin Reese's music class. Reese said the contribution will greatly enhance the experience for the Ableworks class.
Reese has been teaching the Ableworks music class for the past four years at Florence High School; he said he noticed a need for drums. After learning that Home Depot might be willing to donate five-gallon buckets, Reese sent a request to the store. A manager eagerly responded with an invitation to pick up the buckets, stating, "Home Depot loves helping with projects like this, especially in the field of education."
Reflecting on the impact of this partnership, Reese expressed deep gratitude. "Collaboration is truly a great thing," he said. "Each of us has access to a unique set of resources that might benefit someone else—and how can we find each other if we don't put the word out there?"
While these students don't have any planned performances, they have had the opportunity to share their music with the school administration and teachers. Reese said the experience has been joyful and enriching for everyone involved.
Following the initial donation, the students still needed drumsticks. Thanks to a former chorus parent's generosity, the sticks were quickly delivered to the classroom so the students could create sweet music.
