UPDATE: FHS 2024 Homecoming Parade cancelled, will not be rescheduled

FLORENCE, Ala. — Homecoming week did not go as planned for the Florence Falcons as Tropical Storm Francine made its way through The Shoals. Both the parade and football game were postponed until September 26 and 27, respectively.

The route for the rescheduled parade remains the same. Floats will line up on Pine Street from Flowers Hall to Norton Auditorium. The parade will turn left onto Irvine Avenue and right onto Court Street. The parade will continue south on Court Street, then turn left onto Tennessee Street. After a final left turn onto Seminary Street, the parade will end at Wilson Park with a community pep rally.

After monitoring Hurricane Helene in the Gulf of Mexico, and consulting with Lauderdale Emergency Management officials, Florence City Schools made the decision to cancel the homecoming parade, with no plans to reschedule.

Friday’s homecoming game against Austin will proceed as scheduled. The game will kick off at 7 p.m. at Braly Stadium. For home game parking procedures, view this instructional video. Tickets for the game can be purchased here.

Tickets purchased for the original September 13 game will still work for this week.

Updated at 10:14 a.m. on September 26, 2024, to announce the second parade cancellation due to Hurricane Helene.
