FLORENCE, Ala. — On Saturday, November 2, from 2 to 5 p.m., the Florence Education Foundation will host the seventh annual Shoals Salsa Showdown at Singin' River Brewing. This event is open to the public, and the community looks forward to it each year. There will be over 12 local restaurants showcasing their salsas and queso that attendees can sample.

The signature salsas and queso will be divided into different categories, with attendees deciding the victors.

• Best Traditional Salsa
• Most Creative Salsa
• Best Queso
• Most Festive Booth
• Overall Winner

Proceeds from the event will fund classroom grants that Foundation members will distribute near the end of the fall semester. There will be different activities for all ages and live music to enjoy. Florence Education Foundation President Kelly Massey looks forward to what the event will bring.

"It's such a great way to bring the community together," Massey said. "We get to sample salsa, enjoy each other, all while supporting Florence City classrooms."

With the Salsa Showdown getting bigger each year, the Foundation was able to give out around $40,000 in 2023. This year, the Foundation is excited to distribute even more.
