Florence FFA lands top awards at Lauderdale County Land Evaluation Event
LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Ala. — On Wednesday, The Florence City Schools FFA chapters competed at the Lauderdale County Land Evaluation Event, bringing home top honors and monetary awards.
The Lauderdale County Conservation District hosts the event and teaches students various components of soil sciences, providing a hands-on educational experience.
The Florence High FFA chapter won first place out of five competing schools, with the Florence Middle School FFA chapter securing second place. The chapters were awarded a total of $1,100 for their program accounts.
The top six highest-scoring individuals also received monetary prizes. Five out of the top six highest-scoring individuals were FCS students.
The top six were as follows:
- 1st Place: Tess Stone (FHS)
- 2nd Place: Angel Tran (FHS)
- 3rd Place: Amira McCoy (FHS)
- 4th Place: Lynlee Burton (FMS)
- 6th Place: Justin Hargett (FMS)
