Big Blue Band brings home Best in Class at Tennessee Valley Invitational
MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. — On Saturday, October 19, The Big Blue Marching Band traveled across the river to Muscle Shoals High School to compete in the Tennessee Valley Invitational Marching Competition. Building on an already impressive season, the band once again achieved All-Superior ratings.
The 7A class featured 5 different bands located across the states of Mississippi and Alabama. Among the competitors, the Big Blue Band earned accolades including Best in Class for Drum Major, Dance Line, Majorettes, Percussion, and Band.
In addition to the Best in Class awards, overall scores were assessed by judges evaluating all participating bands. As the evening concluded, the Big Blue Band recorded multiple high scores in key categories:
- Percussion - Second-Highest Score
- Drum Major Matthew Strickland - Second-Highest Score
- Majorettes - Highest Score
- Band - Third-highest score
Ultimately, the Big Blue Marching Band finished the competition in a tie for second place with Tuscaloosa County, achieving a final score of 93.44.
The band will compete in the Mud Creek Classic at Hanceville High School on Saturday, October 26, alongside 27 other bands in what will be their final competition of the season.
