FAFA Songwriter Showcase happening Thursday at 6 p.m.
FLORENCE, Ala. — The Florence Academy of Fine Arts Songwriter Showcase is happening Thursday, and songwriting teacher Lisa Silver said more hands are involved this semester to guarantee a successful event.
The showcase is held near the end of each semester, allowing songwriting students to showcase their original works and perform in front of a live audience. Originally held in Silver’s classroom, the event now takes place in the Falcon Broadcasting classroom. Florence High School collaborations between studio recording, guitar, creative writing, and career tech continue to make the showcase larger each year.
Silver said the confidence boost students get from performing sets them up for the future. “Really excited and proud to see how the kids have grown from the beginning of the year till now,” she shared. “Kids that maybe have never had a chance to get up in front of anybody and say ‘I can’t do it. I can’t do it,’ and then suddenly they do it, and it’s great.”
Silver added that the students will be performing various styles, from country to hip-hop and everything in between. The showcase will take place Thursday evening at 6. For tickets, click here.
