Florence High School Science Olympiad shines at state
AUBURN, Ala. — On Saturday, March 29, the Florence High School Science Olympiad team competed in the State Tournament at Auburn University, facing off against 17 highly competitive teams across Alabama. The team demonstrated incredible skill, teamwork, and dedication, earning an impressive 7th place overall and medaling in 7 events.
- 1st Place – Electric Vehicle: Trent Kelly & Jonah Estrada
- 2nd Place – Dynamic Planet: Neel Patel & Nhu Pham
- 2nd Place – Experimental Design: Wayland Balentine, Tomas Padgett, & Nhu Pham
- 2nd Place – Write It Do It: Jessie Brewer & Jonah Estrada
- 3rd Place – Fossils: Wayland Balentine & Tomas Padgett
- 3rd Place – Wind Power: Rishi Telang & Norah Day
- 3rd Place – Robot Tour: Genesis Griffin & Angel Tran
- 5th Place – Microbe Mission: Neel Patel & Angel Tran
Florence High School staff expressed their pride over the students' hard work and success in the challenging STEM events and thanked the coaches, sponsors, and supporters for their encouragement.
